An Independent Legal Support Department, which reports directly to the Chairperson, is constituted for the legal support of IEP. Law practitioners, seconded public education teachers (ΠΕ78 Social Sciences Discipline) with a law degree serve in this department. Contracted law practitioners with IEP in the context of actions implementation concerning co-financed programs could, if required by IEP, cooperate with the Legal Support Department. A law practitioner is appointed as Head of the Department according to the Governing Board decision. An employee already serving at the Legal Department or another person according to par. 2, article 43, law 4194/2013 (A’ 208) could become Head of the Department. The Head of the Department coordinates the work, distributes cases and supervises their development.

IEP is legally represented by law practitioners that already serve at the department or by lawyers appointed by decision of the Governing Board, following a recommendation of the Head of Department.

Seconded teachers or contracted staff are attached for the secretarial support of the Legal Support Department according to the 33404/H/27-3-2012 Joint Ministerial Decision.
